Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Temple Navaratri Dress Code: No Mini Skirts For Women, No Shorts For Male or Female Devotees, Only Full-Length Clothes Allowed
Navaratri scheduled to begin on October 10. Preparations of Navaratri in the temples have started with loud noise. Meanwhile, the news is coming from Mahalaxmi temple in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. During this Navaratri, the entry of shorts and mini skirts in the temple will be stopped.
Western Maharashtra Devasthan Committee has issued dress code for male and female devotees in Navratri. WMDC President Mahesh Jadhav said that during Navratri, girls and women not allowed to enter the temple’s sanctum in shorts and mini skirts. If the devotee comes by wearing small clothes then the temple administration given room to change clothes. .
It worth mentioning that the launch of the Shardhiya Navaratri festival is going to start from October 10. In view of this, Devasthan Management Committee, Western Maharashtra, Kolhapur have decided to maintain the sanctity of the temple. It noteworthy that this entry planned not only in the Mahalaxmi temple but in 3,000 temples under the Maharashtra Devasthan Committee.

In the year 2016, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court ordered the temple administration in this regard that devotees coming out wearing jeans, Bermuda or skirts should not allowed to enter the temple.
However, after the state government’s protest Madras High Court, the court had stayed the order. However, there is still a ban on the wearing of small clothes of women and men devotees in Tirupati Balaji Temple.
