Metro Rail Coaches Will Built in India: Modern Coach Factory (MCF) has issued a tender of Rs.150 crores for the purchase of technology and expertise for making first ‘Make in India’ Metro coaches in the country by 2021. These bins will meet international standards. Sources informed that MCF Rae Bareli has issued this tender last week. This tender has yet release for technology transfer. They also provide expertise for the maintenance and manufacturing. Along with testing and maintenance of passenger coaches made of aluminium.

This will enable us to meet the needs of our cities, which are continuously expanding transportation options in cities. Now these compartments are being imported extensively. We can prepare them at a very low cost. “The sources said that the tender will open on February 28, 2019 and by 2021. We will be able to present the first box.
At present, coaches for the Kolkata Metro built in Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory.
The coaches to be produce by MCF will be of international standards in design and technology, which will make them many times better. A senior railway official said that the estimate cost of the metro coaches we currently import is 8 to 9 crores per box. While the cost of indigenous manufacture compartment is near to seven – eight crore rupees. But if we get an order for these compartments in the right quantity, then the cost will be four to six crore rupees.
