Nooyi was born in the Tamil family of Madras in Tamil Nadu state of India. His father worked in 'State Bank of Hyderabad' and his grandfather was a district judge. After this, he graduated from Madras Christian College in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry and mathematics and post graduation in MBA from the local management institute, Calcutta.
