The defeat of the upper castes is being consider as an important reason behind this.

In the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP + got 73 of the 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. This time Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party have joined hands to challenge the BJP. After this it was believe that the BJP could take any major step to deal with this alliance. The decision to give reservations to the upper caste is being consider as the masterstroke of the government.

In fact, according to political analysts, the SP-BSP has decided not to include the Congress under the strategy in its election alliance in UP. The reason behind this is the reason that the BJP and the SP-BSP are going to fight different elections in the upper house of the BJP in order to split the votes of the upper castes into the BJP and the Congress. But due to the demand for reservations for poor people for a long time, this announcement can get a political advantage for the BJP.
